The U.S. invasion to Santo Domingo in April 1965 had a great impact on Argentina's domestic policy. The U.S. proposal to create an Inter-American Peace Force to support its unilateral decision caused ruptures within the Arturo Illia's Government. There were several expressions and demonstrations for and against Argentina's participation. Primera Plana, which expressed the interests of one sector of the Armed Forces, used its criticism of the government's ambiguous position and its columns on the issue to discredit the government, feeding fears of Peronism and trying to support the latent coup. To analyze this relationship will help to understand what interests promoted Illia's overthrow in June 1966.
