Abstract This paper aims to analyze the consequences in Argentina of the commodity boom taking place in the world economy. The emphasis has been put on the presence of effects associated with the so-called Dutch Disease. This concept is related to the coexistence of two sectors, one that is positively affected, and the other negatively, by the commodities price boom. In Argentina, the favored sector is agriculture while industry would play the role of the injured party. We describe the argentine economy characteristics in relation with such a phenomenon, investigate its causes and transmission channels including its internal and external inhibitors, and assess the phenomenon relevance.

Keywords : Raw materials; Dutch disease; Argentina; Agriculture.
