Resumen

SALVIA, Sebastián P.. Devaluación sin devaluadores: Consideraciones sobre la disolución de la "comunidad de negocios" y la acción de la burguesía industrial, en la crisis final de la Convertibilidad. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.43, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3735.

Since 2008, Argentina is, once again, in a time of crisis: the crisis of the economic and political model of post-currency board. This model's characteristics are closely related to the political process that culminated in December 2001, updating an old trend toward the corporatization of politics. Heterodox economic thought has conceptualized the currency board crisis according to the dimension of inter-bourgeois struggle. It has emphasized the importance of economy's devaluation and dollarization proposals as a way out of the crisis, as well as the pressure of currency devaluators and dollarizers over the State. Those are the positions taken by the industrial bourgeoisie, and by banks and privatized firms, respectively. These contradictory positions are derived from the fracture of the "business community" that had united them in the 90s. This conceptualization has been presented in many texts by Eduardo Basualdo, and has been continued by many authors since the late 90s to the present. This article discusses this interpretation of the final crisis of the currency board, that had a great influence in heterodox economic thought. This interpretation is analyzed taking into account two dimensions: its conceptual strength and its empirical basis. To this end, one of the contenders in conflict, the industrial bourgeoisie, is taken as the object, focusing on the corporate organization of businessman in the sector: the Union Industrial Argentina (UIA).
