This work analyzes the agriculture 4.0 as the contemporary convergence process between the agriculture machinery industry and the new digital technologies, which refletcts an increasing rivalry in global oligopolies. From this framework, it discusses how stable relationships among oligopoly members are jeopardized as soon as different oligopolies fight for the control of global platforms and data standards. This work analyzes how the historic trajectory of Argentine’s agriculture machinery has been affected by recent diffusion of precision agriculture, and the challenges for this industry.
