Abstract

PALMUCCI, Hemilse E  and  AMAT, Graciela. Dieback foliar y podredumbre seca de grama bahiana ocasionados por Curvularia lunata en Argentina: (con 4 figuras). Phyton (B. Aires) [online]. 2004, vol.73, pp.275-279. ISSN 1851-5657.

A new disease was observed on carpetgrass (Axonopus compressus (Swartz) Beauv.) growingin a suburban garden near Buenos Aires city. Foliar dieback and sheath, crown and stolons dry rot appeared on plants. Through routine phytopathological tests, black, velvet colonies were isolated in potato-dextrose agar and identified as Curvularia lunata (Wakk.) Boedijn.Pathogenicity tests carried out on A. compressus gave positive results.It is concluded that Curvularia lunata is the causal agent of the disease. This is the first report in Argentina that gives this species a pathogenic results on A. compressus.
