Resumen

GAUVRY, Gabriela C et al. Physical activity levels and the risk of cardiometabolic factors in hospital employees. Rev. cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2017, n.27, pp.69-74. ISSN 1851-7587.

The aim of this study is to know the total physical activity habits in hospital civil servants and their relationship to the Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (cc) and modifiable atherogenic risk factors. 432 individuals were evaluated out of 989 workers. Personal interviews were conducted and anthropometric measurements, blood pressure and blood collection were controlled. The level of physical activity was measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). 57% had low level, 22.9% moderate level and 19.9% high level. The lowest level was higher in women (60.3%) than in men (48.2%) (p = 0.067) and in workers with lower level of education (65%) compared to the average level (58.8%) and high (48.1%) (p = 0.016). No significant association with BMI, WC and modifiable atherogenic risk factors was found. It is recommended to implement a health track in order to promote physical activity in the workplace.

Palabras clave : Physical activity; Employed public; Body-mass index; Waist circumference; Modifiable Atherogenic Risk Factors.
