This work analyzes the main stages and context in the development of the Uruguayan intellectual Fernando Ainsa's tenacious thinking regarding utopia, tracing this concept and his approach to it in relation with Our America. His laborious day-dreaming is a constant in his work. His reflections show renewed hope in front of situations unbearable to human dignity. This work highlights his worthy contribution to the regional History of Utopian Ideas.
