Abstract

SANTOS HERCEG, José Guillermo. From Alternative Thinking to Alternatives for Thinking: A Topic of Style. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2008, vol.10, n.1, pp.77-83. ISSN 1851-9490.

The classic question if it is possible to consider the Latin American reflections as philosophy is the starting point for this text. For this being so, such thinking must adjust to the rigid pattern of Occidental-European academic philosophy-normal philosophy. We tackle this question starting from the link between philosophy and discipline as expressed by Foucault, and reaching a proposal for an intercultural-oriented philosophical thinking by Fornet Betancourt, since intercultural experiences usually lead to the discovery of new practices or to the reorganization of the old ones in the field of philosophic disciplines. The inclusion of new practices as well as the reorganization of the already existing ones produces the change of style that is indispensable to broaden thought alternatives and to make alternative thought real, «normal» and accepted as philosophical.

Keywords : Philosophizing; Normality; Alternative thinking; Practices; Style.
