Abstract

SPINELLI, María Estela. The Imprint of "Democratic Transition" in Historiography on the Second Half of the Argentinean XXth Century. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2008, vol.10, n.2, pp.11-28. ISSN 1851-9490.

During the 1980's, after the experience of the military dictatorship (1976 - 1983), several changes affected argentine political historiography that deals with the recent past. The different variations of nationalism lost ground, and liberal-democratic tradition recovered influence. The present paper seeks to understand these changes in relations to the transformation of argentine political culture and intellectual and ideological traditions.  It traces institutional changes during the early years of the reestablished democracy, in order to explain the growing influence of the historiography that grew under the influence of the social history school that entered the country in the late 1950's. It finally studies the influence of political science on historical literature in the period.

Keywords : Political historiography; Military men; Civilians; Democratic transition; Peronism; Radicalism.
