Abstract

MAIZ, Claudio. Jorge Abelardo Ramos, the “inventor” of Ugarte: Marginality, canon and nation. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.1, pp.75-88. ISSN 1851-9490.

In this paper we intend to investigate how certain readings are “concerned” and motivated in needs that emerge of the present itself of the reading. These reading policies retrieve or ignore books and authors within a nation’s cultural canon. Jorge Abelardo Ramos edited by Manuel Ugarte first time in Argentina, a book dating from 1910 (El porvenir de la América Latina). Ramos introduces a prologue called “Redescubrimiento de Ugarte”. The figure of this argentine socialist helped Ramos to achieve a synthesis between socialism and Latin American nation.
