Abstract

SANTOS HERCEG, José. Jokes, mess-ups, and mishandlings: Mistake as a source of everyday conflict among cultures. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2015, vol.17, n.2, pp.19-32. ISSN 1851-9490.

This text aims to investigate the incidence of “mistake” in the origin of everyday conflict between culturally diverse individuals. To achieve that, it starts distinguishing the different kinds of mistakes, in order to approach to a concept of it. Later, the text explores into the origin of mistake, looking into, in the first place, the “fail of information” theme, addressing the subject of its origin from the perception perspective, the existence of secrets, and the attendance of lies and deceits. Besides, comprehension is analyzed as source of mistakes. Finally, it approaches the consequences of mistake, analyzing, on the one hand, wrath and revenge, and, on the other hand, sanction and punishment.
