Abstract

INDAVERA, Leandro. The reception of Adam Smith by Juan Bautista Alberdi. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.53-58. ISSN 1851-9490.

Adam Smith's ideas in relation to virtuous behaviour, its economic reward, and the detrimental effects of speculation and lavishness influence the mature works of Juan Bautista Alberdi. However, Alberdi was not a mere recipient. He adds certain conceptual analysis in relation to Smith's ideas comprising the labour theory of value, the importance of intelligent work and shrift and the importance of habit in order to acquire moral virtues that lead to wealth.

Keywords : Smith; Alberdi; Reception; Virtues; Wealth.
