Abstract
SCIVOLETTO, Gonzalo. Language and intercultural understanding. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.89-101. ISSN 1851-9490.
In this paper, a way to address multiculturalism from the discourse ethics of Karl-Otto Apel is proposed. The thread for this is hermeneutics conception of language and the difficulties to understand "cultures" or strange life forms. First the fundamental relationship between understanding and argumentation is exposed, then the reconstruction of the theory of speech acts by formal (Habermas) or transcendental (Apel) pragmatics to indicate the difficulties of conceptualizing the meaning or sense as a validity claim. From that diagnosis, one transcendental hermeneutic solution to resolve both "disputes sense" in a hermeneutical discourse as intercultural conflicts is offered.
