Along the 19th century in the United States an important quantity of agreements was signed orientated to "regulating" the matters relative to the occupation and possession of the lands occupied by the indigenous peoples. This essay is to analyze the underlying ideas to the generation of this series of treaties, trying to explain were the logics that supported and justified the conquest of the indigenous lands from this type of instruments. Also, there will be deepened the specific case of the people Cheyenne during the corresponding period to 1825-1861, discussing the relation between the agreements of Fort Laramie (1851) and Fort Wise (1861) and his entail with Sand Creek's known massacre.
