DAVID CABRERA, Mario Federico. The weight of writing: feminist critique and fictions of the body. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp.1-16. ISSN 1851-9490.
In this article I will present an approach to a series of narrative texts that in recent years came out in Argentina and Chile as responses to the questions about the links between feminist critique and literary practices. The corpus includes: Chicas muertas (Dead Girls) (2014) by Selva Almada; Aparecida (Appeared) (2015) by Marta Dillon; Impuesto a la carne (Tax on Flesh) (2009) by Diamela Eltit; Conservas (Conserves) (2016) by Samantha Scweblim; Las infantas (The Infants) (2010) by Lina Meruane; and Las aventuras de la China Iron (The Adventures of China Iron) (2018) by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara. As a hypothesis, I hold that the texts from the corpus intervene in different sociocultural configurations of gender, and install the problem of the body as a metaphorical extension of the community notion. In the conclusions, there is a series of arguments that are oriented towards understanding the relation between writing and feminist critique as a methodological perspective and a political device.
