Resumen
FARES, María Celina. The Itineraries of an Intellectual Clergyman: Juan Ramón Sepich Lange and the Modulations of Hispanism. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.1, pp.1-16. ISSN 1851-9490.
The reconstruction of the itinerary of the intellectual clergyman Juan Ramón Sepich constitutes a significant contribution, from the perspective of intellectual history to the new history of universities and of philosophy. This new history includes intersections between political history and the cultural approaches of transnational networks. Sepich’s intention to make the profane city a sacred one through his university and journalistic endeavors makes him one of the mid-20th century most relevant agents in the production and dissemination of the ideas that associated Catholicity with Hispanism. Considering his local, national, and international trajectory, it is possible to explain not only the movements of his reactionary thought in dialogue with the philosophers of modernity, but also to make visible the transatlantic circulation networks that strengthened the Francoism-backed policies of international Catholicism.
