The notion of responsibility, associated to and inscribed tragically in our recent past, is increasingly used in different spheres of society. I will argue that this is a dense and polysemic notion, permanently subjected to re-signification and, therefore, its use generates certain problems in public debates and history studies of the recent past. In the present article I shall cover the different meanings and application schemes for the notion of responsibility in order to rethink its utility and multiple significances regarding the recent Argentinean past
