ESCALANTE, Pablo Facundo. Los funerales del Panteón de París como disputa simbólica entre la Monarquía y la Asamblea Nacional. Prohistoria [online]. 2012, vol.17, pp.25-50. ISSN 1851-9504.
The French Revolution imposed a rupture in the dominant political regime until 1789, by transferring the sovereignty from the king to the Nation, without rejecting, however, the principle of monarchic government. This coexistence between the king and the National Assembly generated in the latter the urgency for legitimate itself before the public opinion. The creation of new ceremonies and national symbols was one of the many strategies used to it. This article deals with the State funerals held in 1791, and deals with the political implications that they represented by supposing a symbolic dispute between the monarch and the Assembly.
