Abstract

This article proposes to tackle the representations of the intellectual of Jorge Abelardo Ramos and Juan José Hernández Arregui during the fifties and to discuss the relationship of those with a specific mode of insertion into the intellectual and political fields of the time, which was characterized as fully oppositional and anti-intellectual nature. It hypothesize that such an attitude was part of a device to imagine a legitimacy of their thinking men condition: while Ramos expressed his willingness to become a privileged agent to elaborate a "theory of the national", Hernández Arregui thought to himself as the "popular self-consciousness" interpreter
