This article analyzes the potential of the census of Indian villages for historical analysis of the policy of borderlands in the southern Chaco in the Bourbon period. Its recounts the village San Javier of indians mocovíes and San Geronimo of indians abipones both located on the northern border of the Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz. Correspond to the period after the Jesuit expulsion, a time when the Bourbon authorities are urged by the need to repopulate the northern Santa Fe reductions.
