Abstract

FARBERMAN, Judith  and  RATTO, Silvia. Actors, Policies and Institutions in Two Frontiers Areas of the Chaco: The Frontier of Santiago and the Rio de la Plata Between 1630-1800. Prohistoria [online]. 2014, vol.22, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-9504.

Traditional studies on frontiers areas have tended to make a tight narrative to official policies that tended to show two moments: the Bourbon reforms and revolutions of independence. In the same way, these studies have tended to focus on the administrative jurisdictions of the frontiers areas. The aim of this paper is to review the two ideas by analyzing the two frontiers of Chaco mentioned. We intend to show, that the frontiers dynamics not depend so closely of the officials policies and that the analyzed spaces are so interrelated despite its dependence on different governorates

Keywords : Frontiers; Missions; Indian villages; Bourbon reforms; Chaco.
