Abstract

MARTIREN, Juan Luis. Frontier Contrasts: Farmers and Creoles on the Eve of the Great Agricultural Expansion of Santa Fe Province (1856-1875). Prohistoria [online]. 2014, vol.22, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-9504.

We will not be just inquiring about the colonies, but a certain space that was already populated and partly put into production in which these colonies were installed, causing a rupture of magnitude but without ceasing to interact with the native population. We study that spot as a frontier space where they lived immigrants and natives with different cultural and economic patterns, sometimes complementary and sometimes not, and which was not yet clear that one of them would end up imposing on the other

Keywords : Frontier; Farmers; Agricultural Colonization; Social Order; Santa Fe Province.
