Abstract

SEDEILLAN, Gisela  and  BERARDI, Pedro. The Challenge of the Buenos Aires Police in the 1890s: Between Institutional Expansion and Stagnation of their Resources. Prohistoria [online]. 2015, vol.23, pp.71-96. ISSN 1851-9504.

This work is focused in the management of resources, especially in the budgetary, toward the police force in a context of strong questions and political tensions. To do this, we emphasize the tensions that arose between the executive and legislative power in relation to police institutional designs, and the manner in which the allocation of responsibilities and budgets became an element to weaken the government forces. Simultaneously, we recover the voices of the own police agents in order to identify how they responded to these questions, defining their own representations and institutional areas.

Keywords : Police; Budget; Factional conflict; Province of Buenos Aires.
