Abstract

This article tries to analyze, on the one hand, political scence's development, and on the other, the mechanisms of institutionalization and professionalization of the discipline. To do that it focuses on different conceptions about science and politics, primarily in twentieth century. The constitution of a scientific and professional field is seen through different institutional practices and ambits in which political scientists practice their profession.
