Twenty five years after the publication of the celebrated edition on transitions to democracy, Philippe Schmitter, one of its editors, enlisted the findings and limitations of the theory of democratic transitions taking into account the development of  new democracies and the transitions occurred lately. In this article, his co-author and co-editor manifests some dissenting notes with Schmitter's assessments.
