Abstract
BOLLINI, Francisco Darviles and PLANT, Keila Rojas. EL NEOLIBERALISMO COMO RELIGIÓN. Postdata [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.2, pp.402-416. ISSN 1851-9601.
The aim of this paper is to study contemporary neoliberalism by making a parallelism between it and some logics of religions in general. Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s “Capitalism as religion” we interpret our modernity and we demonstrate why we can think about neoliberalism as the most religious moment of capitalism. With this in mind, we analyze the theories held by Byung - Chul Han in “The Burnout Society” and, as well, Maurizio Lazzaratto’s in “The making of the indebted man”. We examine the role played by guilt and debt in neoliberalism and try to show the continuities between the capitalism that Benjamin studied and our nowadays.
Keywords : neoliberalism; Benjamin; religion; debt; guilt.
