Abstract
SHAPIN, Steven. Breakfast at Buck's: Informality, intimacy, and innovation in Silicon Valley. Apunt. investig. CECYP [online]. 2016, n.28. ISSN 1851-9814.
This paper analyses how techno-scientific innovation is produced and what is the role of culinary sociability spaces in the generation of business plans related to it. While Shapin's earlier work on subjectivity examines how con-noisseurs produce an experience of taste in the interaction with other indi-viduals and objects stabilizing the subject and the object, this article reveals the role of the scenery, the sociability, of what is said and what is not said in the breakfast between investors and entrepreneurs, and the way in which breakfast becomes an object defined by all the stakeholders.
Keywords : Sociability; interaction; breakfast; entrepreneurs; businesses.
