Abstract

HANG, Julia. "If you want to record, just do it. But I'll deny everything" Secrets, gender and politics from a methodological approach. Apunt. investig. CECYP [online]. 2017, n.29, pp.90-107. ISSN 1851-9814.

In this paper we propose to think about the multiple senses that the secret acquires in the relationship with our interlocutors, and the way in which through it social and power relationships are created during feldwork. On the other hand, the consideration about the secret, allow us to think in me-thodological terms about how the etnographic fact is built. In third place, we aim to think about the role that secret plays in the production of gender hierarchies and in the establishment of symbolic boundaries in disputes for political control at a social and sportive club. The secret as native cate-gory is invested of moral stigmas with the purpose of establishing political otherness in this social space, allowing the production of a degraded alteri-ty that identifes secret and politics and a morally superior us.

Keywords : Secret; feld work; politics; gender.
