The article analyzes the debate on the Cuban Revolution in New York Left through Monthly Review, the journal founded and run by Marxists Paul M. Sweezy and Leo Huberman in 1949. It reconstructs the state of Marxist reflection on capitalist economy, especially for developing countries, in the work of Paul Sweezy and Leo Huberman and in Monthly Review in the first decade of its publication, from 1949 to 1959. And it brings some items to the history of relations of Monthly Review and its directors with the Cuban Revolution, to register those relationships within the larger story of encounters and disagreements between New York Left and Cuban socialism during the '60s.
