Liberalism and right-wing currents in Argentina, 1912-1943. Interpretive choices, possibilities and limits

The paper explores the link between liberalism and rights between the enactment of the Sáenz Peña Law and the coup d’etat of 1943. For this, the following arguments are raised: the viability or the suitability of conceiving the political and doctrinal field of Argentina of those years in terms of right / left; the possible meanings of some characteristics usually associated with the liberalism of this period, such as conservatism; the political and doctrinal modulations of some public figures linked to liberalism, especially about democracy; the links between liberalism and other political traditions, for example republicanism.
