FRATES, Luciano y MANGE, Emiliano. LANDSCAPES OF TRANSIT AND STATIONS IN THE PLAINS AND CLOSED BASINS OF CENTRAL-EAST NORPATAGONIA. Relaciones [online]. 2016, vol.41, n.1, pp.1-10. ISSN 0325-2221.
In this paper the results of the regional archaeological survey of central Río Negro province (the plains and closed basins area) are presented. Based on these results, and also on the previous archaeological information of the area, the paper aims to show a large-scale picture of this portion of Northern Patagonia, especially in regard to spatiality, preservation, visibility, and chronology or the archaeological record. It is not a subject of the paper to deepen on the evidence coming from each of the local archaeological sites, but to offer a general framework of human occupation of the area. On the basis of this information, we propose an exploratory archaeological model focused on the use of space, fresh water sources, and the regional structure of the archaeological record, and some concrete archaeological expectations to be contrasted are arised.
