Abstract New technologies are changing the social and cognitive maps of our human landscape. The two aspects mentioned deserve further investigation: an in-depth study of the cognitive field and of the social condition of technology, which in Latin America present inequalities and dependence. With respect to the cognitive aspect, a qualitative jump is observed which expands the cultural spectrum to new anthropo-technological landscapes because the logic of the machine, contrasted with the human mind, has given way to unexpected new connections at neurological level. Different questions arise in relation to the social aspect: How can the new social identities be rearranged?, How does imaginary consumption relate to the present experiences of a subject before a screen? How are the new forms of cultural memory built? How can socio-economic differences and equal access to new technologies be reconciled? How can alternatives to bridge the gap with formal education, still today subject to the written word, be thought out? How to approach - in and from Latin America - the audiovisual hegemony without underestimating its strong cognitive and ideological potential on a continent where there are subjects who can acquire new skills but who must be guaranteed access to cultural goods is the question
