The theme of the political identity of the phenomenon known as "menemismo" and their modes of legitimation has been analyzed in recent years by dozens of authors from the most varied theoretical outlook. Two have been, however, the approaches prevailing within the scope of the Social Sciences in general and the Theory and the Political Sociology in particular: the call theory of "consensus of flight forward" and the theory of "Hobbesian discourse of overshooting the chaos". The article critically analyses these two dominant prospects. According contends, both are inadequate to account for the complex issue of menemist identity, to focus excessively on the aspect of political order
