CLOSA, Gabriela. Córdoba en las elecciones de 1983: Partidos, prácticas y discursos políticos de campaña. Estud. - Cent. Estud. Av., Univ. Nac. Córdoba [online]. 2009, n.22, pp.127-142. ISSN 1852-1568.

The call for elections in 1983 was the key moment for the fresh start to the activity of political parties. After long years of silence imposed by military dictatorship, the political parties experienced a renewed vitality, started their reorganization and began a struggle for the acknowledgement of civil society. Broadly speaking, there was a re-discovery and positive evaluation of what democracy and its associated practices were and meant. Also, the new period launched as from the start of the new government was deemed to be the adequate moment for producing a general transformation of society and it emerged as an imperative demand after the chaos brought about by dictatorship. It is within this frame that this research paper intends to analyze the political campaigns as reflected in the mass media of Córdoba as well as the role of the political parties that participated in that foundational election; also, to focus on the political discourses and practices developed by the two major parties: Partido Justicialista and Unión Cívica Radical. In the course of the development of the campaign, it was possible to detect the construction of legitimizing political discourses based on a particular conception of the past, which set a projection into the future. The above-mentioned process contributed to establish the political identity of those parties and had an influence on the way they correlated to civil society.
