This article aims to identify the role of the graphic press in the conflictive times of the organization of the General Economic Confederation (CGE) during the first months of Dr. Miguel Ragone's short term in office (1973-1974). In order to prevent the fall of salary power and reach an agreement to satisfy the workers' claims, in June 1973 the national administration and the heads of CGT and CGE signed a Social Pact (Pacto Social). The pact meant to centralize the employers' and the workers' representation around the CGE and the CGT. With this objective in mind, CGE representatives traveled around the country to organize the provincial branches, which would cause problems with the employers in Salta. Romero's struggle to control the organization of the CGE in Salta, the conflicts with the traditional structures of the employers' leadership and the tension with Ragone´s government are some of the problems dealt with in this work. The material has been gathered from the two local newspapers, El Tribuno and El  Intrasigente.
