Abstract

SALANOVA VILLANUEVA¹, Laura; AGUILERA², Abelardo; SANCHEZ GONZALEZ³, Carmen  and  SANCHEZ TOMERO4, José Antonio. Mineral and bone disorder in chronic kidney disease: Implications in cardiovascular risk. Insuf. card. [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.1, pp.63-73. ISSN 1852-3862.

The main cause of morbimortality in patients with chronic renal disease is cardiovascular. Inflammation and alterations in bone-mineral metabolism are pathological conditions that lead to an increased cardiovascular risk in chronic kidney disease. The classical parameters of bone mineral metabolism such as phosphorus, calcium, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone are well known involvement in cardiovascular risk; but the newest markers: FGF23 and Klotho are implicated in cardiovascular disease that is often independent of renal disease.

Keywords : Mineral and bone disorder; Cronic kidney disease; Cardiovascular risk.
