Abstract

DAL PAI, Leocir. Gobierno corporativo y sus efectos en los indicadores económico-financieros de las empresas de capital abierto del sector eléctrico brasileño. SaberEs [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.1, pp.43-58. ISSN 1852-4418.

The general aim of this article was to develop an investigation on the effects of adopting different practices of Corporate Governance on the results of joint-stock companies, when compared by the economic and financial indicators. Were evaluated 32 companies (sample), of which 9 formally adhered to the best practices of Corporate Governance and, 23 did not do so. A longitudinal cut was performed in the sample used encompassing, as a period of investigation, the historical series that correspond to the financial exercises relating to the years 2002 and 2007. Results allowed to deduce behaviors that indicate that Corporate Governance has a positive effect on indicators of public companies and the Corporate Governance is an important factor in explaining the performance expressed in terms of financial indicators. Starting the conclusions derived from the empirical study and based on broad theoretical framework and the author's own analysis, it follows that it can be expected that the adoption of additional corporate governance practices have a positive effect on indicators of open companies in the Brazilian electricity sector.

Keywords : Corporate governance; Best practices; Economic and financial indicators.
