Abstract

DI FILIPPO, Armando. The latin american historical structuralism in the 21st century. SaberEs [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.2, pp.131-155. ISSN 1852-4418.

This essay attempts to synthesize the main features that characterize Latin American Structuralism (EL). In the first part, these features are conceptually presented in a summarized manner, trying to emphasize their validity and relevance in the 21st century. In the second part, the historical-structural perspective of this current of thought is deepened. To this end, a periodization is carried out supported by the successive waves of change experienced by capitalism on a world scale. The connection between the processes occurring in the hegemonic centers and their impact on the Latin American periphery is underlined. It also incorporates a synthesis of the main currents of economic thought that have arisen in the western world in response to those historical changes as well as their impact on the gestation of the EL.

Keywords : Structuralism; Economic Thought; Core-Periphery.
