TRAGLIA, Carla et al. Economic concentration of agroindustrial chains in Misiones, Argentina: yerba mate, tea and mandioca. SaberEs [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp.19-36. ISSN 1852-4418.
The profile of the investments made in the region in the last 40 years, contributed to deepen the process of concentration of economic resources, both in agriculture and in forestry industry. The neoliberal economic policies stressed these tendencies, allowing an accelerated concentration of marketing channels, which produced a sharp drop in the prices of agricultural products, producing the consequence of precariousness of agrarian labor conditions, the increase in unemployment and the expulsion of many producers of their lands. In this article we describe and analyze three of the main agro industrial linkages deployed in the Misiones territory -mate, tea and cassava- noticing its importance in the contemporary agrarian economy, as well as the worsening of inequalities between agrarian workers, agricultural producers and companies involved in the production and marketing processes. In addition, besides the transformations in the organization of agricultural activities and in labor relations, this work inquiries into trends towards the economic concentration of agricultural activities addressed.
