CRUZ, Ileana Gimena; SAUAD, Juan José y CONDORI, Miguel Ángel. Financial and economic analysis of the substitution of conventional energyby solar thermal energy for heating of sanitary water in Salta, Argentina. SaberEs [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp.153-171. ISSN 1852-4418.
Residential energy consumption for sanitary water heating is one of the most important components of energy demand. This paper presents an analysis, from a financial and economic perspective, of the substitution process of fossil energy with solar thermal in for sanitary water heating, in the Province of Salta. The financial and economic analysis was based on investment cost and energy savings. Then, energy demand maps and financial and economic impacts of the substitution were obtained. It is evident that in the analyzed area, the energy access is inequitable and tariffs promote the status quo. In addition, the results show that at the housing and census radio level there is financial and economic feasibility of the replacement for homes with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), electricity and firewood. Substitution is not feasible for homes and radios with access to a natural gas network. In spite of this, it is economically feasible if the global replacement of the energy system by solar energy is considered.
