Located to the Southeast of Buenos Aires Province, Monte Hermoso has undergone important changes in land use, especially due to the existing natural resources and the effects of tourist demands. The town area, in the West of the urban land, is an example of this issue; therefore, it is necessary to assess the current state of the dune ecosystem and the impact of urban growth on its dynamics. In this paper, the changes in coverage and land uses will be analyzed for the 1967-2011 period. First, three thematic maps of coverage and use for 1967, 2004 and 2011 will be drawn. Then, the environmental conditions for 1967-2004-2011 periods will be compared. It is estimated that the regional climate variations related to wet-dry cycles and the interventions in land use have caused considerable important changes in the last 44 years. Consequently, wild areas have substantially been reduced.
