Resumen

CELEMIN, Juan Pablo; MIKKELSEN, Claudia Andrea  y  VELAZQUEZ, Guillermo Ángel. La calidad de vida desde una perspectiva geográfica: integración de indicadores objetivos y subjetivos. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.1, pp.63-84. ISSN 1852-4265.

Quality of life is a concept of increasing interest in both society and academic discourse. Its conceptual ambiguity has produced numerous debates concerning its definition and methodology. Empirical works try to overcome these discussions by detecting the current living conditions of the population so that decision-makers can adopt the necessary measures to improve it. Historically, the analysis of quality of life was performed using objective and subjective indicators. Later on came the need to integrate many of these indicators into a more comprehensive index. Based on a bibliographic review, this paper shows the path of objective and subjective indicators towards synthetic indices, setting out the required criteria to validate the different types of indicators and indices, and highlighting the current tendency to use indices that include both objective and subjective indicators.

Palabras clave : Quality of Life; Social Indicators; Objective Indicators; Subjective Indicators; Synthetic Indices.
