The United Nations and the Organization for Education, Science and Culture have renewed their goals, objectives and areas of interest for the next ten years through the preparation of various documents that establish the main guidelines and future challenges for this organization. In the context of the Program on Man and the Biosphere, these challenges were materialized through a new Strategy and a series of proposals derived from it. The objective of this work has been to analyze the situation of Argentina's biosphere reserves to determine the possibilities of facing these challenges and to attain the stated goals. To do this, an approach was carried out combining the analysis of the main international documents with the case study of the Argentine situation. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the environmental problems of the country present great difficulties for the national network of biosphere reserves to reach international standards. At the same time, the analyzes performed provided a series of future perspectives that highlight the priority issues to be worked on so that the national biosphere reserve network can pursue the goals and targets defined at global level.
