Abstract

MANCHO, Ricardo Rodrigo  and  PEREZ PACHECO, Pilar. Nuevas claves para la lectura de Cornelia Bororquia (1801). Olivar [online]. 2003, vol.4, n.4, pp.83-103. ISSN 1852-4478.

During the last XVIIIth. and first XIXth century's years, the use of éclairé thought encourages an atmosphere favourable to the Inquisition's abolition. Cornelia Boroquia o la víctima de la Inquisició's central axis is the Holy Court's censure. The ex-trinitarian Luis Gutiérrez narrates all along this roman the defenselessness of a girl in Inquisition's gaol. The roman argües for religious tolerance, following the way of thought belonging to certain enlightened christianity, although it does not approach the radical tone reached by other Spanish exiles. While Marchena's exíleradicalize his political speech so as his dream of a society without classes, Luis Gutiérrez takes a more possibilistical anf reformer way. He trusts on the descendants of the enlightened party of Sapanish nobility to be a key-element in the modernization of Spanish thought.
