This essay attempts to analyze Muñoz Molina's discourse as a form of «new memory» of the facts and events prevailing in twentieth-century Spain. In his text, the author confronts the «heroic history» of the Civil War and its poets, with the private life-stories of his characters. Beatus ille narrate a heroic discourse on the biography and works of a dark and forgotten writer of the Generación del 27, but the voice, placed emphatically in 1968, omits the moment in which the novel is written and published
