Visto al pasar. República, guerra y exilio is the autobiographical story of a woman from the Republican faction who was driven to permanent exile in Argentina after the Spanish Civil War. The documentary value of her book resides not only in its detailed reconstruction of life and habits during the years of the war, but also in the experiences of Carmen García Antón with world-wide known writers and artists. Moreover, the book invites a reflection on the strategies to legitimize and construct the subject's identity in contemporary Autobiography.
