The purpose of this paper is to analyze the problem of the historic nature of the Poema de Mio Cid, not to determine its value as historic testimony but to approach the idea of historic time that the text presents to the recipient. Therefore, some passages of the poem have been analyzed in detail. The particular use of the verbal forms has shown that there is a process of gradual actualization, an effect that could be called 'presentización' (bringing to present), which concurs with the increase of the dramatic intensity in the episodes examined.
