Abstract

RODRIGUEZ GILES, Ana Inés. La estigmatización de los mendigos en El Buscón: Similitudes con la persecución de otros grupos marginados. Olivar [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.15, pp.151-172. ISSN 1852-4478.

Beggars were stigmatized during the Early Modern Age, becoming frequently accused suspects. In this article we study how La vida del Buscón llamado Don Pablos reproduces this discourse, in which we find many similarities to the marginalization of other social groups during this same period of monarchic consolidation. Therefore, our hypothesis is that this text is part of the configuration of an internal enemy that should be persecuted, against whom it was necessary to arouse public rejection, by means of generalized aversion and fear.

Keywords : Modernity; Marginality; Fear; Hiding; Begging.
