The paper analyzes an important Spanish book (¿novel? ¿chronicle?) in recent years: Anatomía de un instante by Javier Cercas. The book narrates the coup of February 23,1981. The abundant amount of historical data presented from many perspectives cast doubt on the literary genre of the book for the reader, and make him reflect on the origin of realism, and its validity today.
