SUMONTE, Valeria; SANHUEZA, Susan; FRIZ, Miguel  and  MORALES, Karla. Inmersión lingüística de comunidades haitianas en Chile: Aportes para el desarrollo de un modelo comunicativo intercultural. Pap. trab. - Cent. Estud. Interdiscip. Etnolingüíst. Antropol. Soc. [online]. 2018, n.35, pp.68-79. ISSN 1852-4508.

The language diversity found in societies is a differentiating feature between cultures and a means of social integration. In Chile, the Haitian migration has attracted the interest of the scientific community, especially regarding to linguistic aspects, where the lack of knowledge of the target language constitutes a factor for exclusion and, cultural and territorial segregation. In this context, our objectives are: a) to analyze the historical and contextual determinants of the Haitian migration, b) to describe linguistic immersion educational models and c) to suggest basis elements for a linguistic immersion educational model from an intercultural communicative approach. The theoretical discussion suggests moving forward to a strategy of appreciation and legitimization of the different languages from a universal approach of right.
